Southwest airlines have 59,000 employees and on peak seasons it has 400 departures a day. Southwest carries the most domestic passengers of any United States airline and has 750 Boeing 737 in services.

• Southwest Airlines" wasn't the airline's original name. It was called "Air Southwest" until 1971.

• In 1972, the Southwest had to sell one of their four Boeing 737s to cover payroll.

• They continued their 4-aircraft schedule with only 3 aircraft. The "10-minute turn" was invented to make the schedule work.

• Southwest Airlines has been profitable for 46 years
